BRONZE WAISTCOAT REPORTS - 2007/8

Falmouth Bronze Waistcoat Tour - Event 3

WATSON DOUBLES UP

16th March 2008
Daniel Watson won a second consecutive West of England Billiards & Snooker Waistcoat event to increase his lead in the overall Falmouth rankings. His opponent in the final was Steven Hull whom he beat 2-0. Hull remains in second place just ahead of Charlie Campbell who leap frogged eight places into third spot. James Taylor and Josh Byrd performed well to reach the semi finals for the first time both gaining valuable ranking points. Other ranking table movers include Harry Pledger, up five places, Zac Lawson up six places and James Eddy up five places.

Group A was won by Zac Lawson wining all but one of his matches, second place went to Byrd by virtue of frame count back over the unlucky George Leakey. Tamara Williams came a creditable fourth and newcomer James Lister fifth. Watson powered through the field to win group B, more than doubling his opponents scores in every match. Second place was won by Eddy who just pipped Daniel Richards on frame count back. Charlie Campbell dropped one match against newcomer Jonny Brentow to win group C. Taylor secured second spot edging out losing another newcomer Jacob Chambers. Harry Pledger won group D with ease in front of Hull and Phil Morgan. During the knock out stages there was a misunderstanding of the rules which was adjudicated by Tournament Director Paul Williams in the form of ranking points adjustment to the satisfaction of the players concerned.

Club Proprietor and Tournament Director Paul Williams said "Daniel Watson has made himself the hot favourite to finish top of the rankings but the rest are still fighting it out for the remaining seven qualifying spots".
